Part II of II

Last week’s newsletter outlined what the Democrats have in store for America if they retain power in November. Now, let’s posit that the Democrats do not take the Senate. What could Kamala do all on her own? What tools will she single-handedly have at her disposal?

This nation has enacted scores of laws which provide Emergency Powers to government whenever the President declares a national emergency.  

Does anyone think that there are any national emergencies currently in effect? 

There are actually 43 different states of emergency now in effect. It has been said “War is the health of the state.” That’s also true for “States of Emergency.” Anyone think that Kamala would be reluctant to issue more?  I don’t.  

When a state of emergency is issued, it triggers about 150 statutes that contain stand-by powers of the federal government that are in the U.S. Code – usually in Title 50 – and that is the title of the code that is called WAR AND NATIONAL DEFENSE. Did you get the number – at least 150 laws granting enormous powers to the President during a declared national emergency!!

During the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, many Americans were shocked to realize the immense powers granted to government bureaucrats and elected officials in times of “emergency.”  But it’s much worse than that. In February 1962, President Kennedy issued a series of Executive Orders (EO 10997 - EO 11005) that broadened the President’s powers by requiring federal agencies to:

“Prepare national emergency plans and develop preparedness programs... to provide a state of readiness in these resource areas with respect to all conditions of national emergency, including attack on the United States.”

Some of this makes sense, but some of it is over the top. President Clinton’s June 3, 1994, Executive Order 12919 — on “National Defense Industrial Resources Preparedness” — asserted that the President can require any person in the country to give priority performance to certain contracts or orders.

• Public and private materials, services, and facilities are to be allocated as deemed necessary or appropriate to promote the national defense.  

• Each cabinet member is given responsibility for his sector of the nation.  

• The Secretary of HHS can tell hospitals who they can admit and who they may not treat.  

• The Secretary of Treasury can tell banks who can have an account, and who cannot.  

• The Secretary of Agriculture can tell farmers they cannot farm.  

I think you get the idea. While some of this is necessary, it reminds me of the comment made by an earlier Senator from Delaware --- Daniel O. Hastings:  

“More power than a good person should want, and more power than any other kind of man ought to have.”

President Trump may win this election, and if he does, we will still be in a battle that cannot be overestimated. Just as happened in his last term, everything Trump will try to do will be resisted by Leftist forces.

• Government schools
• Colleges and universities
• Big business
• Media
• Wall Street
• Silicon Valley
• Much of the military
• The bureaucracy
• Hundreds of think tanks
• The big law firms

A great American, M. Stanton Evans, explained that with the forces against us:

“Whenever we win anything, it’s a miracle.”  We should be truly grateful for the God who gives us those victories.  

There is no guarantee we will win this. Most of humanity has lived under tyranny.  We have not been particularly faithful to the God who has entrusted us with the freedoms we have had.  But there should be joy in being born at a time and in a place where we can be participants in the battle like you are — not onlookers, like others.  
 

It’s understandable to feel as Paul did (2 Corinthians. 4:8-9)  

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;

we are perplexed but not in despair;

persecuted, but not forsaken;

cast down, but not destroyed….”  

After all, our God is a Mighty God.

We Serve a Great and Mighty God. May we serve Him well and may He give us the strength to fight on to save our great country.
